Nigeria is going to win the World Cup... if Liberia's new president, George Weah is right.
The newly elected president paid his first visit to Nigeria since his inauguration as president of Liberia and met with Nigerian president, Muhammadu Buhari in the latter's office at the Presidential villa, Abuja.
While the meeting itself was held behind closed doors, President Weah did chat with journalists after.
He described the Super Eagles of Nigeria as a model and urged the Federal Government to provide all that the Eagles would need to win the trophy in Russia this June.
Apart from football, he also spoke about the economy saying he inherited a broken economy in Liberia, and lamenting the low level of trade between his country and Nigeria.
He also reiterated his previous statements declaring Liberia open to investment, and his commitment to tackle entrenched corruption.
Mr Weah was sworn in as president on January 22nd, defeating immediate past vice president Joseph Boakai of the Unity Party.
His swearing-in in January marked Liberia’s first democratic transition in 74 years.
